Song: Song For A Friend
Artist: Andreya Triana
Album: Giants (2013)
Notable Lyric: "Through the storm and reckless skies // Endless days and the sleepless nights // I'll be by your side"

One of the world's most incredible voices accompanied by a peaceful piano and cello (violin?) makes the ideal recipe for the most soothing 3 minutes and 56 seconds of your day. Quote me on that. Andreya Triana is one of my go-to artists when I'm looking for a calming feeling and her music is perfect for creating that environment.
The message of the song is quite clear from the title. A wonderful expression of support and caring for a friend that is going through a difficult time. Sometimes just knowing that you have that person to help you, to listen to you, to comfort you, makes the an unquantifiable difference. We can all take a lesson from the song and take a moment to think about who you are looking out for and who is looking out for you. Sometimes we may not even be aware of the impact we have on people's lives so the it's good to take a moment to appreciate our close friends and family. Sometimes a 5 minute phone call to simply say hello can brighten up their day. They don't even have to be going through a tough time - it costs nothing to listen.
"Just let love heal you and I'll do the same You know I will be here at the end of the day"
I remember going to watch her last December (2017) at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London. There must have been about 100 people there so it was quite an intimate show. The minute she stepped out on stage her contagious energy took over the room making it feel like we were all close friends who came to see her do what she so clearly loves. Her comforting charm wonderfully complemented the soothing melodies of her songs which generates a warm feeling you want to bottle up and keep forever.
Towards the end of the set she even came down off the stage and formed a circle in the crowd to sing the timely Christmas songs. The circumstances obviously permitted for such but the fact that she did cemented any assumptions of her friendly and likeable character.
This into not a concert review but as this was almost 4 months ago and I can still vividly remember the experience, I wanted to share this. I feel having an idea of the personality of the person behind the microphone adds a layer to your interpretation and experience of a song.
But enough about that - just listen to this masterpiece. Thank me later.
(Still waiting for her to release "I'll Do That For You" which has been saved on my Instagram memories ever since!)
