Song: Drew Barrymore
Artist: Bryce Vine
Album (Year): Drew Barrymore (Single) (2017)
Notable Lyric: The TV hasn't worked in ages, Probably got a shorted cable, Way too busy fucking on the sofa or the kitchen table

First thing's first, I want to say thank you to Bryce Vine for releasing this song which has inspired me to pick up writing again. In my last post I rambled on endlessly about finding a purpose and right now I'm at a stage where I'm going to create my own.
I've chosen not to delve too much into the meaning of the song itself even though I have been obsessively listening to it for the last week. The last time I felt this way about a song it lead me to write a blog post about it. The difference this time is that this song is the one that has called me to action. It's reignited that passion for music, interest in writing, and to step out of my comfort zone to take this more seriously!
This won't be news to you but it's a love song. But it's raw. It's unfiltered. It's honest. It doesn't give a fuck about what other people think. It's about a relationship that isn't on Instragram or Snapchat. It's a relationship that doesn't have daily commentary by your friend who is on her 5th boyfriend in 3 years. Or your mate who was last in a relationship when he put his girlfriend's name in his Blackberry BBM status.
The message of the song is simple. As put by Bryce himself on the verified Genius post:
I wanted to write a song not focused on looks. I realized a lot of songs, even when they are romantic, are more about how the artist feels than the person.
I'll probably revisit this post in future because I really do love this song but the purpose of this post is to get over the "writer's block" that's been holding me back. In all honesty this page was a vehicle in order for me to vent. Now that venting has turned into an interest but the fear of it "failing" has been holding me back. That thought becomes more ridiculous when there isn't even a metric to measure the "success" by.
And all these other girls keep wondering what I fuck with you for
So once again, thank you very much to Bryce Vine for writing a song that I can listen to 24 times a day and not get sick of. Thank you, Bryce, for giving me the belief in myself to get up and fucking take this passion by the throat. And Bryce (in a somewhat self-fulfilling prophetical way) even though like Drew Barrymore, you have no idea that this exists, thank you for being the inspiration for creating something meaningful.
Also make sure you listen to the "acoustic" version which is just as incredible!
